How we use donations
We appreciate your generosity and will use your donation for programs like these:
- Matching SNAP, WIC and Senior FNMP coupons. We match the first $25 of SNAP purchases (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly Food Stamps). We also match coupons from WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) and coupons from FMNP (Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program) Read more about our matching program, which is part of our food assistance work.
- Fresh produce. We work with the Boston Area Gleaners to ensure deliveries of produce to the Belmont Food Pantry; this amounts to thousands of pounds of produce each year. We sponsor Community Growing, where residents grow produce for the Belmont Food Pantry. This includes student-run gardens at Belmont High School. Read more about food assistance.
- Speakers and programs. We have offered free public programs on raising chickens, edible landscaping (to go with our Pomona Project), a community seed swap and a Fall & Winter Farm Share Fair. We run classes about cooking to encourage adults and children to cook at home.
