Cooking classes: Summer & Fall 2017

Our mission: to share our passion for cooking meals at home with easy, authentic and delicious recipes, and fresh ingredients. We believe everyone can cook a great meal, and these classes will help you do just that.

We have three great new classes: Flavors of the Amalfi Coast, Zero Cooking, and Language in the Kitchen.

Class #1: Zero Cooking

This is one of our most popular classes: Learn the tricks Italians use to face the hot summer months when cooking becomes a real chore.

Super-easy traditional Italian dishes that require no cooking, just assembling fresh ingredients. Perfect for your easy summer life!

Menu: Caprese Salad; Bresaola (cured beef) with Arugula and Parmigiano; Bruschetta;  Sailors’ Biscuit Salad with Fresh Tomatoes, Tuna and Olives.

Class #2: Flavors of the Amalfi Coast

Explore traditional lemon dishes of Amalfi. Land of Paradise and Divine are nicknames for the Amalfi Coast. We will take you there through the authentic flavors we recreate in this class. You will be surprised by how easy it is to make these dishes.

Menu: Lemon Risotto, Marinated Eggplant, Green Salad, and Amalfi Lemon Cake.

Class #3: Language in the Kitchen: Un Menu Moderne

Our French instructors are back to share some traditional dishes with a modern twist. Join us  to practice your French and for a fun and creative cooking class.

Menu: Green Asparagus Panna Cotta with Parmesan Tuile, Chorizo-Crusted Cod with Provencal Vegetables, Profiteroles.

About our instructors

Carmen Conte Sivers is a Belmont mom eager to share her passion for Italian food. She is an Italian teacher and a native of the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

Françoise Matte moved from France 15 years ago, loves to cook, try new recipes, eat and share meals mostly of French inspiration. She founded three cooking clubs and offered cooking classes for many years. Cecile and Francoise run French In The Kitchen cooking classes, dedicated to food lovers.

Cecile Penot, a French native from Paris and a foodie forever, has always been addicted to cooking and sharing her passion for it. She loves entertaining and preparing fresh simple meals for her family and friends and has been offering cooking classes for a long time.

Information for these classes
Location: Varies. Two in the kitchen of The First Church in Belmont Unitarian Universalist, 404 Concord Ave, Belmont; one other in a TBD Belmont location.
Cost: Varies. Payable with credit card or PayPal.
Ages: High school students and adults.
Equipment. Hands-on classes. Bring an apron and your favorite knives (packed safely). Bring plastic containers to take food home (if you don’t eat it in class).
